The Science
What is dentin hypersensitivity? It is an intense pain in response to stimuli such as hot/cold foods or drinks, acid, sugar, or forces acting onto the tooth, mainly due to exposed dentin tubules. More specifically, the hydrodynamic flow of liquid inside the uncovered dentinal tubules can trigger nerves along the pulpa canal of the dentin causing sharp pain.
